Christmas Came Early

Some things in your life, aren't supposed to turn out the way you expected. If everything turned out how we expected it to, we wouldn't have a reason to fight for ourselves and to strive for better. That is a lesson I learned by living it. When I was contacted in April by Randstad Education about the opportunity to move to London, I never expected this experience to go the way it has; Randstad was nothing I had hoped for. They were disrespectful and unprofessional, and did not make me feel like a priority. It was six weeks before I started working because of things missed on their end. It was a trying six weeks, both emotionally and financially. I was put through the paces and tested in many ways. They eventually gave me a new start date for my contract, which was over a month after the original start date. When I finally started working, I was being placed in positions I had said I didn't want to be in and when questioned, I was told I was unqualified for the positions I wanted to be placed in. It was this that pushed me over the edge and decided it was time for a change to be made. I started looking elsewhere for work and was referred to a different agency by a friend of Melissa's that is working over here as a teacher (the agency she is also working for). I setup my initial registration with Vibe and was being called for work the following week. I gave my notice to Randstad and started my journey with Vibe. The difference between the two agencies was mindblowing and I immediately knew that I was doing the right thing. It has been a month since my registration and three weeks since I have been working in Vibe's schools. The consultants and team leaders at Vibe are amazing. They work with you to get you where you want to be and will do all that is within their power to get you there. Vibe is a community and work very hard to make everyone feel welcome. In the past three weeks they have worked alongside me to find the right position for me and I am happy to say I have a full time position as a Teaching Assistant in a Special Education school. The position comes with an hour and fifteen minute commute but I am very excited for what lies ahead. Finding this position was like an early Christmas present!

With Christmas fast approaching, I have had the opportunity to take part in many different traditions in London including turning on the lights on Oxford Street, watching the Hamleys Toy Parade and going to the annual Winter Wonderland at Hyde Park. There are so many Christmas markets around the city, it would be impossible to hit them all but Christmas spirit is definitely in the air. All I ask is for there to be some snow to make the Christmas season feel complete. I can't wait to be home, celebrating with family and friends in just 15 days!
